Laughing Moon Chocolates in Stowe is in the process of launching a new version of an old favorite and they’re calling it Chocolate Sunshine. The little community supported chocolate shop has been making handmade chocolates and candy canes since 2002 and has been encouraged by enthusiastic customers to pursue a shelf-stable chocolate sauce (which is more of a spreadable, spoonable, velvety treat). Owner Leigh Williams has been slowly moving this product forward for a few years and has a recipe in place. “Production of the chocolate sauce is planned for the Vermont Food Venture Center in Hardwick and could start as soon as we reach our funding goal of around $5000.” Explains Williams.
Laughing Moon has experienced amazing community support through the years and continues to work to find the balance between giving to community-based non-profits and maintaining profitability. Right now owner Leigh Williams is feeling like that equation is out of balance. “Easter was hard this year.” she admits. “We give away a lot of product and we can only do that if people come in and buy too.” It has been a winning formula for the little company and Williams is hopeful it will continue. “People have a lot of choices about what to buy and where to buy it. We feel honored that the Stowe community has always supported our mission and vision.”
This product launch is an opportunity to show that support by becoming a Moon Partner. Laughing Moon is offering partner benefits for up front contributions of $250 or more to support the launch of Chocolate Sunshine. Partners will receive a Partner Card for 10%-15% discount in the shop for life or gift certificates to use over time, which are valued at more than the investment. In addition Moon Partners will get free Chocolate Sunshine as soon as it is ready for distribution. Williams wants investors to feel like they are making a good return on their investment. “This is a great way for some of our corporate customers or regulars to consider paying ahead and getting a great deal over time.”

Solid Chocolate Easter Bunnies handmade at Laughing Moon Chocolates
Easter is fast approaching and as always we are busy creating amazing handmade chocolates to celebrate the season.
